4CB Blog – 24/11/17 November 26, 2017

We have had a very busy week in year 4 this week!

In English, we have written a diary entry from the point of view of Hogarth from our book ‘The Iron man’. Children peer edited the work and then redrafted it. The redrafted version were fantastic! We finished the weeks English off with some drama and debate. Children took on the role of farmers and debated whether they should trap the Iron man.

In Maths, we have started looking at decimals. This week, we have been looking a place value and how it changes when dividing or multiplying by 10,100 or 1000. The children worked very well!

In Topic, children used Padlet to create a class padlet about Claudius the Roman Emperor. Look at our padlet here – 4CB padlet on Claudius

In Science, we made connections between sound and sound waves and how they are affected by the type of sound made.

In Art, children designed their own Roman sculptures. We used peer critique to improve each others work.

On Friday, school was taken over by the children. It was great to see so many members of 4CB have roles on the day! After speaking to staff at the school, it sounds like they all did amazing jobs! Well done to all involved. Thank you to Miss Durkin, Miss Collins and Miss Turner who taught our class. You were fantastic and will make amazing teachers and teaching assistants one day!

Key dates

Monday 4th December – Adult to school afternoon – making roman sculptures

Wednesday 6th December – Trip to Chester – Dewa experience

We need more parent helpers for this trip, so if any adults are free please let us know!

Enjoy the rest of your weeekend!

Mr Bennett
